In 2017, Joann graduated from “Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin’By World,” a 16-week course investigating poverty and developing tools and resources to “get ahead” in life. Joann was amazed at what she learned about resources and poverty and was left with a passion to give back to the community. She noticed that The Factory Market, although stocked with various food items, did not provide essential items for daily life like deodorant, shampoo, and trash bags. For over a year, Joann has been collecting donations of cleaning supplies and health & beauty products from local businesses to stock the shelves of The Factory Market.
